Mark Neufeld is a host, producer and director of film and television. His entertaining and welcoming personality has gifted Mark the ability to engage with people of all cultures and backgrounds to celebrate the amazing things our world has to offer, while bringing that excitement and passion to audiences all around the world.
Born in snowy Canada and with a dream to one day be on television, Mark's performing career began at the University of Manitoba acting in student-led feature films as well as on stage with the renowned Black Hole Theatre Company. Realizing that he also needed to pay his tuition, Mark went behind the camera to co-found a small commercial production company directing and editing videos for clients across Canada. On top of running his company, Mark somehow managed to graduate with a major in Film Studies and minor in Theatre, along with a professional working knowledge of how to deliver engaging content both in front of and behind the camera.
Mark quickly put his skills to work after graduating being hired to launch UMSU Vision, the University of Manitoba's first-ever closed circuit television network, bringing Mark's work to an audience of 30,000 students. On top of directing and producing promotional concert videos for artists like Lupe Fiasco, The Sheepdogs and Doc Walker, Mark also hosted popular shows like Secret Spaces which forced Mark to charm his way past campus security into the forbidden areas on campus, all live on camera.
By now Mark's skills had been noticed by more than just his university friends which led him to getting hired as a full-time remote host with Rogers Media and the Citytv Winnipeg morning show in 2015. Along with co-host Erica Natividad, Mark was live on location every morning from 6-9am having a blast showcasing the coolest stories Winnipeg had to offer, whether it was feeding the new tigers at the zoo, forging swords with old-world blacksmiths, jumping out of search and rescue army jets or getting beat up by nine-year-olds at their karate classes.
After two years of waking up early Mark's skills would bring him to prime time as one of the new national news correspondents for CityNews, bringing his stories to audiences across Canada. But rather than settle for the traditional robotic news approach, Mark brought his entertaining personality to the 24-hour news cycle. With a filmmaker's eye for segments and encouragement from his producers to go outside the box, Mark quickly became one of the most popular hosts on the network even landing him a nomination for “TV Personality of the Year” at the Winnipeg Night Life Awards in 2019. Mark lost to a friend at a rival network, and is definitely not bitter about it to this day.
Today, Mark lives in Winnipeg and continues to bring his energy and positivity to tell stories to audiences across Canada with CityNews, along with developing and producing his own shows like the upcoming documentary series Plant Strong and the filmmaker reality series 48 Hrs of Freedom. Mark also still works as a freelance director, creating videos for artists like The Lytics, Mac Miller, Classified and Swollen Members.
